Tuition Assistance Programs

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is proud of teammates who want to further their education, and we want to relieve some of the financial burden associated with that decision.

We encourage teammates to pursue additional education, and we remain committed to supporting them on that journey, whether it be through the Kaplan Purdue Global Program, the Trident Technical College Deferred Tuition Program, or another educational institution supported by RSFH’s Tuition Assistance Policy.

Benefit-eligible teammates in good standing who have been employed with RSFH for at least 90 days are eligible to participate in the tuition assistance program.  Full-time teammates can receive up to $5,250 per calendar year and part-time teammates can receive up to $2,750 per calendar year.

Teammates must complete the FAFSA, and any financial aid, grants, scholarships or other educational assistance will be applied before RSFH Tuition Assistance.  Please review the RSFH Tuition Assistance Policy for more details, including grade requirements and the 18-month work commitment.

Trident Tech Deferred Tuition Program

The Deferred Tuition Reimbursement Program is a partnership between RSFH and Trident Technical College which allows payment of a teammate’s tuition to be deferred until the end of a specified semester so teammates can enroll in courses without any upfront costs for tuition.

The program is good for teammates because it will consolidate all invoices into a single source for easier payment, and it makes it easier to return to school without the burden of immediate expenses.

RSFH will reimburse Trident Technical College up to the qualifying tuition assistance limits ($5,250 for Full-Time teammates per calendar year/$2,750 for Part-Time teammates per calendar year) after teammates complete their semester and Trident Tech provides RSFH with their final grade(s). Teammates will be responsible for any remaining fees.

Contact Trident Technical College at 843-574-6707 and/or apprenticeships@tridenttech.edu for more information and to get started.

SC Workforce Scholarships for the Future

Workforce Scholarships for the Future will cover tuition and required fees at the state’s sixteen technical colleges for South Carolina residents enrolled in a high-demand field such as healthcare, computer science and information technology. The scholarship will cover any tuition and required fees after applying all other scholarships or grants.  This program is in place through September 2023.

Other Tuition Assistance Options

Teammates may use tuition assistance benefits to further RSFH career opportunities through degree or certification programs.  The tuition assistance benefits apply to both teammates at the bedside as well as those who work in corporate services or other non-clinical roles requiring certifications.  In support of career path development, certification programs that meet the minimum requirements (either required or preferred) of a current RSFH position will be eligible for assistance (i.e., Radiology Techs, CT Techs, Certified Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomist, Surgical Technician, Corporate Services, and other non-clinical positions that require certifications).

Continuing education to maintain professional licensure or certification such as CEUs for HR certification, IT certification, RN licensure, etc. is not included.  Further, certifications for personal/professional advancement within the same position are not eligible for reimbursement under the Tuition Assistance Policy.  Teammates are encouraged to discuss such continuing education courses with their department manager.

Tuition Assistance is a two-step process:

Eligible teammates must submit a Pre-Approval Form at least 14 days prior to the start of the course(s)/semester/certification and a Tuition Assistance Reimbursement Form within 60 days of completing the course(s)/semester/certification.

Step 1 – Teammates must submit a Tuition Assistance Pre-Approval Form and all required supporting documentation to the HR Benefits Team for review and approval at least 14 days prior to the start of the course(s)/semester. Additionally, teammates must complete the FASFA to determine whether they are eligible for any financial aid, grants or additional education assistance.

Step 2 – Teammates must submit a Tuition Assistance Reimbursement Form and all required supporting documentation to the HR Benefits Team within 60 days of completing the course(s)/semester.
