Full-Time to Part-Time

You will be Eligible for:

You can make changes (add/remove/update coverage level) to your RSFH coverages within 30 days from your status change effective date on the RSFH Benefits website.

You will be Ineligible for:

  • Basic Life and AD&D Insurance (Coverage ends on the effective date of your status change. You will receive a notice from RSFH/The Hartford within 30 days of your status change effective date with an option of porting or converting your life insurance)
  • Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance (Coverage ends on the effective date of your status change. You will receive a notice from RSFH/The Hartford within 30 days of your status change effective date with an option of porting or converting your life insurance.)
  • Dependent Life and AD&D Insurance (Coverage ends on the effective date of your status change. You will receive a notice from RSFH/The Hartford within 30 days of your status change effective date with an option of porting or converting your life insurance.)
  • Long Term Disability (This benefit is not portable. Coverage ends on the effective date of your status change)

EIH: The maximum accrual is 280 hours. If your EIH balance exceeds 280 hours, you will forfeit the difference. Please refer to the EIH policy 7500-03-11, section 11.16, found on Careline.

PTO: The maximum accrual is 160 hours. If your PTO balance exceeds 160 hours, you will either forfeit the difference or it will be paid out to you the pay period of your status change. Please refer to the PTO payout guidelines in the PTO Policy 7500-03-10, section 10.28, found on Careline.

Part-Time to Full-Time

You will be Eligible for:

If you do not enroll in Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance and/or Long Term Disability within the 30-day eligibility period and wish to have coverage later, you will be subject to an Evidence of Insurability questionnaire to determine approval or denial of coverage.

If you do not enroll in Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance and/or Long Term Disability within the 30-day eligibility period and wish to have coverage later, you will be subject to an Evidence of Insurability questionnaire to determine approval or denial of coverage.

Your coverage will end for medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision on the last day of the month in which your status change takes place (example: status change effective on 4/1, 4/17, or 4/30 – your coverage will end on 4/30). You will continue to have insurance deductions for these benefits until the end of the coverage period.

EIH: The balance will be forfeited.  Please refer to the EIH policy 7500-03-11, section 11.16, found on Careline.

PTO: You will either forfeit the balance or it will be paid out to you the pay period of your status change. Please refer to the PTO payout guidelines in the PTO Policy 7500-03-10, section 10.28, found on Careline.

You will no longer have access to your Flexible Savings Accounts on the date of your status change.

  • Health Flexible Spending Account: You have 90 days from your status change effective date to file claims against your available balance for expenses incurred prior to your status change effective date.
  • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account. You have 90 days from the last day of the year of your status change to submit claims for reimbursement.
